Barnswallows Home for Abandoned Babies opened its doors in November 2009 in Weltevredenpark, Roodepoort. Our first pair of swallows arrrived on November 5th- twins - a boy and a girl!
Born at 30 weeks and weighing 1,1 Kg each, these prembabies needed special care. They were in and out of hospital, with pneumonia, diarrhoea and measles. The little girl, unfortunately, passed away in hospital just after Christmas.
All our babies are special babies. Each one receives individual attention, love, care and stimulation. Together with our team of experts, every baby gets specialized treatment to ensure easy integration into society as soon as possible, through adoption or foster care. We know that a time might come for every swallow to leave, that is why we make the most of every opportunity to love these babies, to raise them as our own, and to prepare them for life.
Barnswalloes is a 'green' babies' Home. No chemicals are used on or around the babies and they are on excellent diets to help them overcome their developmental problems. For this reason we do not use traditional baby products.
